“My Funny Valentine” was composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Lorenz Hart, for the 1937 musical Babes in Arms. This vocal version was recorded on February 15, 1954, at Capitol Melrose Studios in Los Angeles and released on Chet Baker Sings by Pacific Jazz Records.

Baker is accompanied by Russ Freeman on piano, Carson Smith on bass and Bob Neel on drums. Produced by Richard Bock, it became one of Baker’s signature recordings and one of the best-known performances from his debut vocal album.
